Equally at home with the surreal and the painfully relatable (or both at once), Bob-Waksberg delivers a killer combination of humor, romance, whimsy, cultural commentary, and crushing emotional vulnerability. The resulting collection is a punchy, perfect bloody valentine.
Not gonna lie I only started reading Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory by Raphael Bob-Waksberg because I saw the cover somewhere and it was pink and that was enough to pique my interest.
The book is a collection of short stories and it takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions—Humor, romance, heartbreak, family drama, cultural commentary, and soul-crushing emotional vulnerability. It is just a whirlwind of different things put together and I enjoyed it. Each story offered something different. One story offered ritual goat sacrifices, another offered a history of her failed relationships scattered throughout her city. I have to say though, my favorite was the story told from the perspective of a house dog.
I wouldn’t say that this is the lightest book, but it surely is an easy read. 💭 Have you read this book? Let me know your thoughts and what is your fave short story. 📖
